What Brings Me a Sense of Ease
When I’m not cheerleading people toward health and healing, you can find me hiking with my dog, Gryffindor, or cuddling up next to my family lost in a book.
A Passionate, Academic Start
Sarah Proemsey, Clinical Director at Love Your Story Therapy, began her journey with a strong academic foundation and a deep sense of calling. Her passion for understanding people and walking alongside them through life’s challenges has always been grounded in her Christian faith.
Sarah believes her education was not just a personal achievement, but a God-given path. She earned her Master of Science in Counselor Education with a heart to serve and a desire to bring both professional excellence and spiritual care to those who are hurting. Her studies equipped her with the clinical tools to serve her clients, while her faith gave her the deeper “why”—to reflect the love of Christ through compassion, wisdom, and grace.
Outside the classroom, Sarah finds joy in the simple and sacred. She enjoys time in nature, creating space for prayer and renewal. She treasures quiet evenings with her family, cuddling her beloved dog, or getting lost in a good book. These daily rhythms help her stay centered in her faith and ready to show up wholeheartedly for her clients.
A Heart for Service: Professional Experience and Community Ministry
Sarah’s career spans more than two decades, marked by a faithful commitment to her calling. She began in various church staff roles, where she supported individuals and families through ministry care, spiritual guidance, and practical support. Her experience in ministry shaped her heart for integrated care—where emotional, mental, and spiritual health are all honored and nurtured.
Today, Sarah continues to serve her church community. She is an active volunteer at Refuge Church, where she regularly contributes to women's ministry, community outreach events, and mentorship programs. Whether leading a small group or organizing service projects, Sarah’s passion for walking alongside others—especially during times of struggle—continues to shine.
She’s also involved in broader community service, including mental health education initiatives, support groups, and local nonprofit collaborations. These experiences deepen her understanding of the diverse needs in her community and fuel her commitment to making therapeutic support accessible and compassionate.
Sarah's professional history is characterized by her commitment to providing empathetic and effective mental health support. She has worked with individuals, couples, families, churches, and communities, addressing a wide range of mental health issues. Regardless of the setting, Sarah's approach to therapy has always been guided by respect, understanding, and the ultimate goal of improving the mental health and wellbeing of her clients.
Love Your Story Therapy: A Faith-Fueled Vision
As Clinical Director and founder of Love Your Story Therapy, Sarah brings her heart for ministry and mental health into one unified mission. She leads a team of clinicians who believe in the power of healing, community, and faith. Her vision for the practice emerged from years of prayer and professional growth, guided by the belief that every person’s story has value—and that God is present in even the most painful chapters.
Love Your Story Therapy offers both clinical expertise and faith-based care for those who desire it. Sarah specializes in trauma therapy, helping clients navigate difficult pasts with compassion and evidence-based tools. She also supports churches and ministry leaders with mental health training and confidential counseling.
Unique Expertise with a Kingdom Impact
With specialties in individual, couples, and family therapy, Sarah is deeply skilled at guiding people through life’s most complex seasons. Her background in church leadership gives her unique insight into the challenges faced by pastors, ministry staff, and faith-based organizations.
Sarah’s work is more than professional—it’s ministry. She approaches every session with a listening ear and a prayerful heart, seeking to reflect Christ’s love in tangible ways. Her clients consistently feel seen, valued, and empowered to grow, not just emotionally, but holistically.
Faithful Leadership—On and Off the Clock
Licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor in California, Sarah founded Love Your Story Therapy in 2023 in response to God’s nudging to create a space where faith and mental health could be integrated in a meaningful way. Since then, the center has grown into a flourishing practice with over 10 clinicians and the ability to serve clients online across the state.
In addition to direct therapy work, Sarah leads retreats, workshops, and seminars designed to bring mental health tools to churches and community groups. These events often blend psychology and biblical truths, offering a safe space for transformation and connection.
Living with Joy, Purpose, and Service
Beyond her professional commitments, Sarah leads a life rich in joy, faith, and service. She’s happiest when spending time with her family, enjoying quiet walks in nature, or volunteering at Refuge Church. Her involvement in local ministry and service projects is a vital part of her personal life—it’s where she feels most connected to her purpose and her community.
Whether she’s mentoring a young woman at church, delivering a workshop on resilience, or sharing a laugh over coffee with a friend, Sarah brings her full, authentic self—grounded in faith and fueled by love.
If you’re looking for therapy that honors your story, your values, and your faith, Sarah and the team at Love Your Story Therapy would be honored to walk with you.
